This is undoubtedly one of the best books I’ve read this year. Matter of fact, it’s one of the best I’ve read in several years. The author is a 24 year old ivy league kid from Brown who decided to go “undercover” as an evangelical Christian at Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University. Seeing as I spent 3 years at Liberty, myself, this book was obviously tailor made for me.
But it’s tailor made for you, too.
Roose is funny and smart and insightful and he handles both sides of the culture divide with honesty and fairness. The whole time I was reading the book I was thinking, “Seriously? This dude is only 24?”
Whether you are an evangelical or not, this book is for you. Hence the reason it is currently a Barnes and Noble Discover Great New Writers pick and a Relevant magazine best books of 2009 pick.
Go get it. Today.
I mean that.
Oh, and here’s what the very kind Mr. Roose had to say about my book:
“From Bayside High to BeyoncĂ©, Austin Carty leaves no pop culture stone unturned in this valuable book about the nature of family, the complexities of the Christian faith, and the minor tragedies of teenage life. It’s funny, irreverent, and wise. If Carty ever starts his own denomination, I am so there.”
Pretty nice of him, right? Right?
So let’s repay him for his kindness. Let’s all go buy his book.
Ready, and…
go.

Seeing that I spent my quality time and $ @ liberty as well I can’t wait to see what this guy has in store for me in his book…picking it up tomrrow! Thanks for the suggestion
